How Stunning Pool Lighting Increased Revenue
Case Study written by Sandra Downes
John Payne had just found a great residence at Providence Estate in Christ Church, Barbados. He bought it, decided to turn it into a villa and along with a few family members, created Nelohn Properties – a property rental and management business.
Even though the design of the house was modern, changes and upgrades to the electrical infrastructure were needed in order to bring it in line with its intended use.
As Property Manager, Danielle Gibson needed to find an electrician – and quickly. But she also wanted one who knew his stuff and was above all else, reliable.
It was the previous owner of the property who suggested she continue with his service provider, Pure Watt Connections. Danielle agreed “to try them” and a working relationship with the company began in mid-2019. “It has been smooth sailing from there,” Danielle reports.
“We had a lot of retro-fitting of lights to be done, because we wanted to save energy and have lights which would look appealing for the type of villa it was. So Pure Watt conducted electrical audits around the entire villa and became our electrical service providers.”
“At one time we had rain water seeping through a crease around one of our light sockets on the roof, into one of the bedrooms. Roddy came in and did an inspection. He worked for three days removing all the old electrical sockets and sealing the area where the water was seeping through. Then he cut away some of the wall to locate the new fixtures and repaired the wall. When he was finished it looked so clean, you couldn’t tell there had been old lights there. Even after a heavy downpour of rain the lights worked well after that.”
The original property also came with a pond, which was replaced with a swimming pool. “The pool needed lighting inside and outside, as well as in the surrounding garden area. It is now our best feature and it has brought additional revenue to our business. It’s the favourite area for most of our guests and many of them like to read over by the pool on evenings.”
Additionally, bookings doubled since the installation of the pool. Reviews from visitors like Susan describe the pool as “the perfect addition,” while Melanie commented that “the covered back patio overlooking the pool was the icing on the cake.” Kim thought “the pool was warm and inviting” and Jodie “thoroughly enjoyed spending time outside as a family.”
“The great thing about Pure Watt is that they always respond quickly. Once we call them, they come in and assess, buy the stuff and do the work – even down to changing bulbs,” Danielle stressed.
“Another thing we really like is that they follow up a lot. They are responsive, knowledgeable and timely. If they’re unavailable at any point, we always wait. We don’t trust anyone but Pure Watt.”
“We are happy.”
We are delighted with the services offered by Pure Watt and now feel safer (and brighter) when we return home each evening.
The strategically placed photo-sensitive fixtures have made a big difference as have the motion detectors – all recommended by the Pure Watt team after assessing the high risk areas around our home.
Thanks Pure Watt!

Hi guys, good thing I had asked you to check that bulb! Getting that electrical audit done was a great idea.
Would recommend that homeowners have their homes audited as soon as possible. It could save you from a fire! The guys at Pure Watt are efficient, just the people to work for you!
